Training
Mission Statement
It is our mission as coaches to provide a positive environment where the players have an opportunity to continue to develop their skills. The goal is to identify the specific needs of each player and through individual, small group, and team training opportunities to develop their skills to the fullest potential. Remember soccer is a TEAM sport and everyone needs to do their part to support the TEAM. We will win as a team and we will lose as a team. Respect of other players, coaches and parents is EXPECTED on this team. It is important to listen and accept constructive criticism in order to improve and develop into a well-rounded player. We are NOT just here to play soccer, but to also build our character.
School Responsibilities
I will need a copy of each players' class schedules the first week of practice. Student-Athletes are responsible for good grades first; soccer comes second. It is the student-athletes responsibility to manage their time wisely to succeed in the classroom and on the field.
Training
Practice will be from 3:15 to 5pm everyday. On Mondays practice will start at 2:15 and end at 4pm. Coach Ron will be available for functional training after practice (These are not mandatory but there if you would like to work on specifics). Please make arrangements to car pool or be picked up no later than 5:30pm. Tryouts will be October 7th to the 11th. Your paperwork must be completed and cleared by me (Coach Clark) in order for you to participate. Get it done EARLY so you won't miss tryouts and have absences count against you. If you are going to need a locker they will be handed out the first day of practice NOT TRYOUTS.
Training will focus on tactical ball work, adjusting to the speed of play, basic principles of passing, overlapping and building a wall, dribbling in tight spaces, 1 v 1 situations, defending as a team, and ball control under pressure. MOST importantly, playing as a TEAM! Physical fitness is VERY important in the game of soccer. Players need to be able to play at 100% when on the field. Practice sessions are designed to be physically and mentally challenging. We will work on endurance and conditioning at each session.
Gear
Players need to have their own water bottle, shin guards, soccer socks, cleats, and shorts for every practice. Coach Clark is NOT Walmart and she will not supply you with the items you have forgotten. A water cooler will be provided at every practice but no cups. PLEASE!!!!! DO NOT wear another high schools gear!
